What's the difference between digital and chain stitch embroidery?

With digital embroidery, artwork is uploaded and a computerized sewing machine gets all the fun. Our chain stitch embroidery is done manually on a chain stitch embroidery machine. We personally trace, apply, and "draw" the art with thread using our machine. You can check out some of our previous work here. We also included more information and a photo below.

What fabrics can you work on?

For chain stitch embroidery that is directly on the garment, we only work with denim, canvas, and thick knits (think thick t-shirts and sweatshirts). For patches, we like using felt, but have used scrap denim and canvas too. We included more information and a photo below.

Do you offer discounts on bulk orders?

Since chain stitch embroidery is done manually and each piece still needs the same amount of work, we don't offer discounts for larger orders.

Do you do chain stitch embroidery at events?

Yes! We are available for special events to do chain stitch embroidery live :) Please reach out to us at info@master-naif.com for rates and more information.

CHAIN STITCH VS. DIGITAL

The "CITY OF L.A." was done manually by us using our chain stitch embroidery machine. You can more visibly see the chain stitches creating a more textured look. The "MASTER & NAÏF" on the hat is digital embroidery, so a computerized sewing machine created the uploaded design. These are straight stitches so create a different look.

DIRECT VS. PATCH

Chain stitch embroidery directly on a garment looks great! But isn't always the best way to go. Sometimes we have to deconstruct an item to make sure the embroidery looks good, but that adds a tailoring cost to your order. Other times, the desired location of the art just doesn't work for our machine. In those cases, we recommend getting the art on a felt patch and then having us sew it on. This way neither the quality of the art, or your vision, get compromised :)
